Several members of the visiting visiting party responded to requests ~ for short talks. The party came here from Dallas where they attended the convention of the Farm Bureau and from here they went to Houston for the purpose of examining the warehousing project of the Federation in that city. They will go directly from Houston to Auburn, Alabama, from which place they started. A. & M. PROFESSOR ON STATE BOARD L. E. Dowd Made Chairman of State ' Board of Cotton - Classers. L. E. Dowd, associate profess or of Textile Engineering, in charge of cot- ton classing work at the College has been made chairman of the Board of Cotton classers of the Texas state de- partment of markets and warehouses. Mr. Dowd is a wounded veteran who took training at the A. and M. College under the Federal Board for Vocation- al Training and on the completion of his student work was employed on the factuty of the College. He was rec- ommended to Charles E. Baughman, commissioner of the department of markets and warehouses for appoint- ment on the board by President W. B. Bizzell at the request of Professor J. B. Bagley, head of the Department of Textile Engineering. Examination and certification of persons who complete the short course in cotton classing at Texas A. and M. is the duty of the board of cotton classers. At the conclusion of the course each summer those satisfac- torily completing the work are issued certificates by the department of mar- kets and warehouse. L. A. COULTER TO SPEAK TOMORROW Will Deliver His Well Known Address, “Chains That Bind,” to Men in Evening. L. A. Coulter, Y. M. C. A. secre- tary of Dallas, will speak at the con- vocation service in Guion Hall tomor- row and in the evening will deliver his well known lecture, “Chains That Bind.” The evening lecture will be delivered in the Y. M. C. A. chapel and will be for men only. This will be the first time that Mr. Coulter has delivered this particular address since the war. Cadets are especially invited to hear it. The student pastors, Reverends W. H. Matthews, King Vivion and R. L. Brown, have heartily endorsed the lecture and will close their services between 7:25 and 7:30 in order to per- mit every man to attend. In announcing the lecture L. G. Jones, Y. M. C. A. secretary, said: “It will be worth any man’s hour to come and hear this address which can strengthen one person’s mind as it has strengthened others in Dallas, Ft. Worth, St. Louis, Galveston, El Paso, Houston, San Antonio, Waco, Austin and other centers of population. If one has not heard this address he has not heard Mr. Coulter at his best. The meeting for the address will be in the form of a union service with all denominational groups attending. There will be special music. —> =; SUNDAY SCHOOL SUPT. ASKS FOR A LARGE ATTENDANCE We are expecting all boys to be present at Sunday school tomorrow morning and start the new year right. In spite of all the interruptions during the fall an average of 3859 was maintained, which was very good. A devotional service to procede Sunday School will be led by Rev. W. H. Mathews. C. EE.
