Bible’s appointment came as a rec-
ognition of his splendid work in foot-
ball and his qualities as a gentleman
and leader of men. He is recognized
as the peer of coaches in the South-
west.
D. X. Bible came to A. and M. as
head coach in 1917. That year the
Aggies were undefeated and unscored
on, winning the Southwestern cham-

the leadership of the Aggies in 1919.
That year A. and M. again was un-

the Thanksgiving game in Austin with

were defeated 7 to 3.
In the season just closing A. and
M. lost but one game, to L. S. U., and

“Texas Aggies Champions
Of South 1921’ ‘Painted
On The HCilitary Walk
In order that any and all passers,
pedestrians or equestrians on the
main street of College Station may
be reminded of the honor that has
been brought to this institution by
the 1921 football team and so that
the column of cadets at meal time
may not momentarily forgetful of
the honor that hey hold by cogitat-
ing the repast that awaits them in
Shisa Hall as they are lined up three
times a day to march to meals the
military walk has been very artisti-
cally painted with the words “Texas
Aggies Champions of the South
1921.”
The plan was the conception
“Benny” Garrity, yell leader and th2
execution of the plan was carried
out under his direction after permi:-
sion had been given by Major Ash-
burn.
