has recommended him for the ser-
vice and he will leave today for El
Paso for placement training under
the supervision of the Federal Board.
Sergeant Perkins is to be congrat-
ulated upon the opportunity that is
being extended to him, as it is rather
difficult for a man to obtain such a
chance. :
For two years Sergeant Perkins
was an instructor in West Point, but
he says he has never regretted to
leave any place as badly as he hates
to leave A. and M. “The spirit of
the boys at West Point is nothing to
compare with the free wholeheatred
nature of the boys here,” he said.
He corroborated President Bizzell’s
statement a few days ago, that this
is certainly a “going concern.” “I
cannot express myself too strongly
with regard to the great body of ca-
dets here,” he said. “I have never
enjoyed anything so much in my life
as I have the time 1 have spent
among them. I have learned to re-
spect and admire them as individ-
uals, but above all as a body. Their
manner of standing together and ac-
complishing things through concert-
ed action is nothing less than mar-
| velous.”

AT THE LYRIC
The Hayes Theatre Co. opened a
three day engagement at the Lyric
Thursday night “The
Little Thief.” Judging from the ver-
dict of everyone who witnessed this
performance this is one of the best
companies that has ever visited
presenting
| Bryan and the vaudeville numbers
between the acts are far above the
average worthy of especial mention.
Everything in connection with the
performance was clean and refined
and impressed everyone present. The
| company will play a matinee today
presenting “Shadows From the
Past.” ;
