PADDOCK AND FULLER ADDRESS PLANT INDUSTRY COUNCIL At the monthly meeting of the Plant Industry Council in the Extension building Monday afternoon F. B. Pad- dock and F. D. Fuller were the chief speakers. Mr. Paddock gave a review of the results of his trip of inspection with the State Pink Boll Worm Com- mission to the Big Bend district, first explaining thexnew law under which the commission was appointed. He said there was evidence that the rules of the federal Horticultural Board against the importation of cotton from | Mexico were being violated at Cand- aleria and that as there was little ob- jection there to raising other crops be- sides cotton the commission has rec- ommended that the section be declared a fres zone. Mr. Fuller gave a brief review of the various inspection laws of ‘the na- tion, and compared the Texas feed in- spection regulations with those of other states. He brought out the good points of the present law under which his department is operated and told of the recent effort on the part of cer- tain millers to weaken the law. A brief report on the recent meeting of Food, Drug and Feed officials at New Orleans was given, Mr. Fuller saying that a number of business men came from New York especially to confer with the Texas delegates on the work- ing of the Texas laws.
