Military. College Graduates.
Capt. Muller has submitted the
following, to be run in success-
ive issues of the ‘‘Daily Bulletin:”
“The Marine Corps was large-
ly increased at the last session of
Congress in accordance with the
provisions of the Naval Appropri-
ation Bill approved by the Presi-
dent on August 29, 1916. This
bill provided that the Corps
shoald consist of 14,981 enlisted
men, 40 warrant officers, and 597
commissioned officers, including
both the line and the staff, and
that the officers should be dis-
tributed in the various grades as
follows:
“1 Major Gatiaral Command-
dant, 4 Brigadeer Generals, 19
Colonels, 24 Lieutenant Colonels,
#8 Majors, 180 Captains, 150 First
Lieutenants, 151 Second Lieuten-
ants.
“Of, these Officers 9 are for du-
ty with the Adjutant and Inspect:
or’s Department; 30 for duty
with the Quartermaster’s De-
partment; and 9 for duty with
the Paymaster’s Department;
the law provides also that the
head of each staff department
shall have the rank of brigadier
general while so serving.
“The above-mentioned number
of officers inolved an increase ov-

Second Term.
The second term will begin
February 8. On that day class
work will be suspended on ac-
count of registration. ;
All students who can do so are
requested to take- out their as-
signmernt cards and get them
signed in the interval between
January 25 and February 8.
For the purpose of facilitating
the matter of getting these cards
signed, Heads of Departments
have been request®d to remain
i n their offices during office
hours February 5,6, 7, 8. For
the rules relating to registration,
. see paragraphs 82, 83, 84, of the .
Biue Book.
